Information Session for interested Youth (19-29) has been scheduled as follows:

Date: Monday February 8, 2010
Time:  Starting at 6:00pm
Location: Elmbank Community Centre
10 Rampart Rd (near Finch and Martingrove)

Interested Youth can call 416-392-4634 to pre-register for the session or to obtain more information.

Background:

• Cool Rexdale is an initiative to promote the installation of Cool Roofs in Rexdale, and to employ youth from the community in a roofing career and become engaged in the green economy
• Includes a Pre-apprenticeship program developed in partnership with Sheet Metal Worker’s and Roofers Union Local 30
• Partners include Toronto Region and Conservation Authority (Project Lead), various City of Toronto divisions, Woodbine Entertainment Group (seed funding)
• TESS is coordinating the recruitment of interested candidates in partnership with local employment services organizations (Community MicroSkills, YMCA and Humber College)
• Funding will be available to eligible candidates to participate in pre-apprenticeship training
